Nature in the City - Photography Contest

Nature in the City
Photography Contest
Fall River has incredible natural resources all within the bounds of the city - the 13,000 acres of the BioReserve, the redeveloped Waterfront Park on the Taunton River, the newly created Alfred J. Lima Quequechan River Rail Trail, Cook Pond trail, and the many parks in neighborhoods around the city.  The purpose of this photography contest is to share the wonders of experiencing nature in the city by taking pictures of what we see and enjoy in these areas.  It is open to everyone who lives, works, or goes to school in Fall River.
The theme for the contest is broadly “nature in the city” – but this can be interpreted in many different and creative ways.  It includes photographs of nature in Fall River, BUT also of people who are enjoying nature and the out-of-doors in any of Fall River’s parks and trails.
Prizes will be awarded in the following categories:
Ages 14 and under: First prize-$75  Second prize-$50  Honorable Mention
Ages 15 to 21:      First prize-$75   Second prize-$50  Honorable Mention
Ages over 21 who is NOT a professional photographer:                                                             First prize-$75   Second prize-$50  Honorable Mention
Professional Photographers:
There are no monetary prizes, but photographs receiving First prize, Second prize, and Honorable Mention will all be displayed in the Narrows exhibit.
All photographs receiving a prize or honorable mention will be part of the Fall River Portraits Photography exhibit that will be up at the Narrows Center for the Arts the whole month of June.  That means thousands of people will have the opportunity to see these photographs of nature in Fall River!  Prizes will be awarded at the Narrows exhibit opening.
Organized by Friends of Alfred J. Lima Quequechan River Rail Trail
Sponsored by a University of Massachusetts Creative Economies Grant
