Mayor Robert Correia along with CD Recreation kicked off their summer lunch program at nine locations throughout the city on Monday June 29, 2009. On Saturday June 20, 2009, CD REC along with Seth Hockert-lotz’s Dominos Pizza on South Main Street held its Kids Kick-Off to Summer at Ruggles Park. Hundreds of people turned out for this free celebration. The B.O.L.D. (Building Our Lives Drug-free) Coalition presented "Good Neighbor" awards to forty-two store owners and staff for not selling tobacco to underage youth, not selling drug paraphernalia and keeping their property clean and free of litter on June 17, 2009. Also, if the store had a license to sell alcohol, records were checked to be sure they had no citations for selling alcohol to underage youth.
On Saturday June 20, 2009 from 12:00pm – 3:00pm, Community Development Recreation along with Seth Hockert-lotz’s Dominos Pizza on South Main Street will be holding its annual Kid’s Kick-Off to Summer Block Party at Ruggles Park in Fall River. This free event will include activities for youth and families such as a rock wall, dunk tank, moon bounces, music and games, along with pizza. Various agencies and organizations from the city will also be in attendance promoting their summer programs and will have activities for youth.
